What it is and how it is done
A sworn (or certified, legalised, notarised) translation is a translation carried out by a professional translator who, in addition to having an academic background in philology and translation, has passed an official examination and is authorised by a competent national authority to produce legally valid translations. In Spain, sworn translations can only be done by translators authorised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
The original document and its translation are printed and each page is stamped, signed and numbered by the translator, who certifies the validity of the translation in a similar way to a notary.
There is also the option of obtaining the documents in digital format. These translations are scanned and delivered in PDF format, also bearing the stamp and signature of the sworn translator on each page.
The format of the sworn translation is determined by the institution to which it is submitted: some may require a hard copy, while others consider a digital version to be sufficient.
The printed version is sent to the place indicated by courier service.
We have more than 10 years of experience in providing sworn translations for our clients. We translate on a regular basis:
Apostille and Legalisations
If you need to have your translation apostilled or legalised, this is a procedure that is carried out on the original document before it is translated by a sworn translator. The apostille, which certifies that the document is authentic, is obtained in the country where the document was issued or at the corresponding consulate abroad.
The languages we work with are the following:
