Sworn translations

Sworn translations – official, secure and with full legal validity

A sworn translation is a translation of a document that retains legal force just like the original. A sworn translator is a person entered on an official list who holds the authority to certify the accuracy of translations for offices, courts and other institutions. A document with a sworn translation bears the translator’s signature or seal which makes it recognised by state institutions, companies and foreign partners.

For documents that require formal confirmation – such as civil status records, certificates, contracts, court or statutory documents – a standard translation is not sufficient. A sworn translation ensures that the document will be accepted by offices and foreign institutions, that full consistency with the original is maintained and that the interpretation of legal or administrative terminology is carried out correctly.

At OMERO we provide:

  • formal and legal certainty of documents
  • compliance with quality standards – language, style and terminology
  • handling in electronic or paper versions depending on institutional requirements
  • confidentiality and data security

How does the sworn translation process work?

From the moment of order placement every stage is carried out to the highest standards:

Document analysis

We verify the type of document and formal requirements.

Initial translation by a sworn translator

We take into account legal or expert terminology.

Quality verification

This includes checking consistency with the original, translation accuracy and formal details.

Final certification

Signature and seal of the sworn translator or a qualified electronic signature.

Document delivery

In a form accepted by institutions (paper or electronic).

When will you need a sworn translation?

This type of translation is essential in many situations:

  • court and administrative documents
  • transactional documents and commercial contracts requiring official confirmation
  • civil status records (birth, marriage, death)
  • school certificates or diplomas
  • powers of attorney, statements and authorisations

Are sworn translations online accepted?

Many clients wonder whether sworn translations sent electronically have the same value as paper documents. The answer is yes, provided they bear the sworn translator’s qualified electronic signature. Such a document has full legal validity identical to its physical version with seal and signature. It is accepted by offices, courts, universities and institutions across the European Union and in many countries worldwide.

This means you do not need to send papers by post or come in person – the entire process can be carried out remotely. It saves time, costs and logistics especially when translations are urgent or concern documents stored only in digital form.

At OMERO we offer both traditional sworn translations and translations with an electronic signature in line with current security standards, official requirements and client expectations.

At the client’s request we sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and every cooperation is covered by our internal data security regulations. We believe that only this approach can guarantee full trust and peace of mind regardless of the type of document.
